PRIVACY AT MINITHINKS

Your data, briefly.

Last updated: 28 October 2026

Who runs MiniThinks.

MiniThinks is operated by Faisal Alenaizi. Contact admin@minithinks.com or use the private privacy request form about your data. Do not send identity documents or sensitive details unless we explain why they are needed.

Your saves stay here.

Bookmarks are stored in this browser, on this device. We don’t receive your saved collection in this release. If analytics is enabled, a save or remove action can be counted separately as described below. Clearing MiniThinks browser data removes it. The app also caches its icons and offline fallback.

A small count, to find the good stuff.

If you allow optional tracking, opening a story can add to its read count, helping decide which notes appear first. A random code identifies your browser; we receive a scrambled version of that code, the story and the day it was opened. We don’t need your name or email for this.

A repeat visit to the same story counts once per browser each day. Notebook rankings use the last seven days. We routinely clear open records older than 30 days when the site is used. This code is not linked to your saved stories or account-interest vote.

Learning what makes a good note.

Only after you allow optional tracking, we use PostHog, hosted in the United States, to understand page visits and departures, approximate visit duration, notes opened, original-source clicks, save and remove actions, search result counts, topic selections and interest in accounts. A random browser identifier helps estimate repeat visits; it is a pseudonymous identifier, not a guarantee of anonymity. Browser and device information, referring sites and page performance measurements can also accompany these events.

We send search length and result counts, not your search words. Page addresses exclude query strings and fragments. We do not send your email, your name or the contents of your saved collection, and session recording, heatmaps and automatic interaction capture are disabled. Your browser stores the analytics identifier in local storage. Analytics events may relate actions within the same browser; the separate voting code itself is not sent to PostHog. PostHog receives network information needed to deliver its service; we disable IP collection in the analytics configuration. Analytics retention is controlled by our PostHog project and is separate from the 30-day popularity records.

Optional analytics, browser diagnostics and popularity counting are off until you choose to allow them. Your choice is stored on this browser for six months, after which we ask again. You can withdraw that choice below. This stops future collection from this browser; it does not delete events already sent to PostHog. Supported Global Privacy Control signals are respected. Voting and browser saves still work when analytics is off. Ad blockers and tracking choices can mean analytics totals differ from stored vote totals. PostHog’s privacy policy ↗

Optional tracking: off

Off until you choose. Your choice lasts six months on this browser. Saving stories still works.

A thumbs-up for future accounts.

If you vote for accounts on the Saved page, we store a separate scrambled browser code and the time of your vote. That helps us count interest without asking for an email. We retain votes while evaluating this feature; clearing browser data can let the same browser vote again. A vote is not a registration or permission to email you.

No mailing list in this release.

The first release has no reader sign-up, newsletter or comments. If those features arrive, we’ll explain the choices and update this page before asking you to join.

When something breaks.

With analytics enabled, browser error reporting records technical failures, page paths without query strings, failed local resource paths and scrubbed error descriptions. We also send scrubbed exceptions to PostHog. Browser reports follow the same opt-out and Global Privacy Control choices as analytics. Server failures and service-health checks are operational logs independent of browser analytics choices. We keep aggregated operational error records for 30 days after their last occurrence; they do not include submitted form contents, full page URLs, saved collections or deliberately stored IP addresses. Technical diagnostics can be incomplete when a browser blocks scripts or reporting requests.

Reports and requests.

If you submit our report form, we store your email, report category, page path, details, submission time and reference number privately for owner review. Report and privacy pages are excluded from analytics. Report content is not sent to analytics. Do not include sensitive information that is not needed to assess your request. Open reports remain while being reviewed; resolved reports are routinely deleted after 90 days unless preservation is needed for an active dispute or legal obligation. Short-lived, one-way request identifiers help limit abuse; they are derived from a network address and an hourly time window and expire within two hours. Submit a privacy request.

Your privacy rights.

Depending on applicable law, you may request information about processing, access to or a copy of your personal data, correction, or deletion, and withdraw consent for optional tracking. Use the privacy form or contact email above. We may need limited information to locate your records and verify a request. We assess applicable exceptions and explain any limits. Turning tracking off stops future optional collection; requesting deletion of previously collected analytics is a separate request. You may also raise a concern with the relevant data protection authority, including Saudi Arabia’s SDAIA.

Why information is processed.

We ask for your choice before optional analytics and story counting. Report details are used to investigate and respond to the request you submit. Basic hosting, security and failure logs support operation and protection of the service. Processing and any applicable legal basis depend on the purpose and relevant law; we do not treat a visit as consent to optional analytics.

The services that make this work.

Our hosting and security providers may process technical information such as IP addresses, device details and request logs to deliver and protect the site. Google Fonts serves our typeface and receives the connection information needed to deliver it. Service providers may process data outside your country under their own terms. Owner tools require platform sign-in; public reading does not require a reader account.

When you follow a source.

Each note links to the original publisher. Those sites have their own privacy practices. MiniThinks writes its own summaries of public announcements and credits story artwork to its owners. A source link or image credit does not mean the publisher endorses MiniThinks.

Your choice, in this browser.

You can turn off analytics and story counting above, remove individual bookmarks, or clear MiniThinks data in your browser settings. We also respect a supported browser’s Global Privacy Control signal for story counting. We don’t sell these read counts or votes, or use them for targeted advertising.
